New beginnings

There comes a time
When you ask
What now? What next?
do you tread water or start to swim?

For we’ve been treading water for too long
Chained to one spot
As our hair became grey
And we became so tired

If you’re not moving forward
You’re standing still
Staying the same
While everybody else runs on in front of you

And we might be falling behind
But we’re still running,
We’ll reach the finish line
Our finish line. Nobody else’s.

Yes, we might stumble,
There will be hurdles
But we’ll keep going
Even when our path isn’t clear

We know we’ll find our way
If you don’t let the past die
The future cannot grow
It’s okay when something ends
As that’s when we can truly begin

Change is scary, but sometimes it is necessary too.
