Day 7 25/06/26 Angloville Italy – a day of adorable letters, foreheads and mini-olympics

Read day 6 here

I am an English teacher and student of the Italian language currently teaching in Perugia, Italy for the company Angloville. I am working here for the week and writing about my trip in both English and Italian. My Italian is bad so expect lots of mistakes/Itenglish so don’t hesitate to correct me.

I’m so glad I did not participate in that late night bitching. I needed my sleep. My tiredness overrode any FOMO. Why? Because at 10, it was time for my lads to finish their presentation. They smashed it out the park and after a few rehearsals we finished with a game or two of shopping list.

At 11, it was time for the next conversation session. My group wasn’t too bad. I had one of the Andreas, the other Chinese lad Zhibo (Nick called him Z-Rex,) Martina and little Elenora. The topic was sleep. One of the questions was whether you are an early bird or night owl? Me? Early bird, absolutely. What about you? I noticed Midori’s group playing Forehead Charades, so I downloaded that for later.

After we finished, it was time for the next activity. This activity was adorable. Izzy gave everybody an envelope and asked us to decorate them.

Afterwards, we could then write notes to whoever we liked and put them in the envelopes. I wrote a few for some of my lads as well as Nick.

Now Nick and I have been sharing in some harmless, homo-erotic banter which came through on the note.

To be honest that was tame compared to what I could have written. I look forward to seeing what notes I receive. After some pomodoro pasta for lunch it was time for Nick and I to seek refuge in the non-American’s room so we could bitch about you know who. Let the bitching begin. Alas, it had to come to an end at 3pm and it was back to work.

It was time for the next conversation session which was all about adventure. I had one of the more chatty ladies, Giulia Leo – who could speak for Italy and a couple of the weaker kids Ludovica and Matilde. This made for a variable session. Although Matilde didn’t do too badly considering her cerebral palsy. And I did make her smile once or twice. She always looks so overwhelmed with everything. Once conversation had run dry, it was time for the foreheads game which went well.

What did we do afterwards? Don’t ask me. I don’t remember. All I remember next is doing our next conversation session at 5.30. There I was with Ton, the chess player Mattia, the basketball player Giovanni and the hyperactive Michael. We didn’t have a topic, so first we played foreheads and then we did the guess who I am game. Some answers included Marie Curie, but then they quickly became inappropriate with Berlesconi, Trump and Mussolini cropping up.

The true fun happened after dinner where Izzy set up a mini-olympics game – a series of silly challenges – in teams of five. I was with Ton, Matteo, little Ema, Michael and Remo – whose father works for D&G. The first game involved Ton and I throwing an egg back and forth until one of us dropped the egg. We ultimately came third. Then Michael had to stand behind Matteo and be the fastest to feed him a pot of yoghurt without Matteo using his hands. Again we were third.

Next it was Remo’s turn. We had to run and feed him slices of lemon. The first team to finish the lemon was the winner. Alas this was not us. Our final game involved little Ema. He had to hold an apple in one hand and using only that hand, he had to knock the apples out of the opponent’s hands. Despite how Ema was really nervous, he did well, ultimately knocking out another contestant and coming third. Because of him we ultimately scored second-place. Go Ema.

The games were so much fun unless of course you were the Americans who complained about everything. The rest of us had our usual bitch about them around the pool. It was a really lovely evening complete with shooting stars and fireflies. And that concludes my sixth day of this Angloville trip. It was a day of adorable letters, foreheads and mini-olympics.

Dormire. Molto relevante. Una domanda? Early bird or night owl? Io? Early bird. Absolutamente.

Nick ed io condividera some harmless homo-erotic banter, which was reflected on the note. Veramente, era niente compared to what I could have written.

She always looks so overwhelmed with everything. Dopo abbiamo finitio, abbiamo giocato Foreheads charades e tutto l’ha appreciato.

E prossimo? Ho dimenticato. Tutti li scelta e chiesta la domande to guess who the person is.

The catch? Matteo non ha potere (what’s the past participle of potere? It’s irregular, right) I can’t remember.

Abbiamo devuto tenere una mela in mano e usa il mano, abbiamo devuto knock the apples out of his opponent’s hands.  Ema era magnifico. He knocked out Marialena era ultimamente terzo. Dai Ema.

La sera era molto divertente…unless you were the Americans chi ha lamentasato di tutti.
